United Press International (UPI) is owned by News World Communications. UPI was originally founded in 1907 as the United Press (UP) by E.W. Scripps. The organization became UPI after merging with International News Service, which was founded by William Randolph Hearst in 1909. News World Communications is the current owner of this news agency.
