Who launched UPI in the world?

The Unified Payments Interface (UPI) was launched by the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) in 2016. NPCI is the specialized organization responsible for operating retail payments and settlement systems in India. The system was introduced in collaboration with the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) and various Indian banks. It has since become the most widely used digital payment system in the country.
