What is the UPI lite?

UPI Lite is a simplified feature of the Unified Payments Interface (UPI) that allows users to make instant, small-value payments without entering a UPI PIN for each transaction. It works like an on-device wallet within the UPI app, with funds prepaid from the linked bank account. UPI Lite is designed for faster and hassle-free payments up to ₹1,000 per transaction and up to ₹4,000 daily (limits may vary with updates).
