UPI

What happens if a UPI transaction fails?

If a UPI transaction fails, the money is usually not debited from your account. However, if the amount is deducted, it is typically reversed automatically. According to NPCI and RBI guidelines, the following applies:
  • Automatic Reversal: Most failed transactions are refunded to your bank account within T+1 working day.
  • Compensation: If the reversal takes longer than T+1 day, customers may be entitled to a compensation of ₹100 per day of delay.
  • Dispute Resolution: If funds are not received within 48 hours, you should raise a dispute through your app or contact your bank with the 12-digit UPI reference number.
