UPI

Does the UPI ID need a bank account?

Generally, a UPI ID requires a bank account. Unified Payments Interface (UPI) is a banking system for money transfers, and you typically need a savings or current account with a UPI-enabled bank to register. Your mobile number linked to the bank account is verified during setup.
However, some digital wallets or mobile payment apps allow for the creation of a UPI ID without directly linking a traditional bank account, though these wallet-based UPI IDs often have limitations on transactions and withdrawals.
