What is the difference between UPI Lite and digital rupee?

UPI Lite is a prepaid on-device wallet linked to a bank account for small-value digital payments within the UPI system. The digital rupee (CBDC) is a central bank digital currency issued by RBI, representing a digital form of fiat money held directly by the central bank. It is a separate concept from UPI Lite, focused on sovereign currency digitization rather than a payment instrument on top of bank money.
