Can UPI be used outside India?

Yes, UPI can be used outside India in several countries for seamless digital payments. As per NPCI International, UPI is currently operational for merchant payments in countries including Bhutan, Nepal, Singapore, UAE, France, Mauritius, Sri Lanka, and Qatar. To use this facility, you must activate the international UPI feature in your app and link it to a supportive Indian bank account. Once activated, you can simply scan local QR codes to make payments, with the amount being deducted in Indian Rupees based on current exchange rates.
