To deactivate a credit card in India, you must submit a formal closure request to your issuing bank. According to RBI guidelines, banks must provide multiple channels for this, including:
- Calling the bank's dedicated 24/7 customer care helpline.
- Using the mobile banking app or internet banking portal under the account management section.
- Sending an email to the bank’s official credit card support address.
- Submitting a written request at your nearest bank branch.
Ensure you pay off all outstanding balances and redeem available reward points before closure. The bank must process the request within seven working days.
