How to cancel a cheque

To cancel a cheque, follow these steps to ensure it is unusable for transactions while remaining valid for verification:

• Take a fresh cheque leaf from your chequebook.
• Draw two parallel diagonal lines across the face of the cheque.
• Write the word CANCELLED in capital letters between these two lines.
• Ensure essential details like the account number, IFSC, and MICR code remain clearly visible.
• Do not sign the cheque or enter any other personal details to prevent potential misuse.
