Train ticket cancellations can be initiated on Paytm up until the train's chart preparation. After chart preparation, a TDR (Ticket Deposit Receipt) must be filed. Online cancellations are generally not available during the IRCTC maintenance window, which is daily between 11:45 PM and 12:20 AM.

Here are the steps to cancel your train ticket:

  • Log in to your Paytm account on the app or website.
  • Navigate to "My Orders".
  • Locate your train ticket booking.
  • Select the specific booking you wish to cancel.
  • Click on the "Cancel Ticket" option.
  • Choose the passengers whose tickets you want to cancel.
  • Review the estimated refund amount and proceed with the cancellation.
  • Click the "Submit" button to confirm.

The cancellation will be confirmed online, and the refund will be credited to your original payment source. Please note that certain bookings, such as those made under "Current Availability," cannot be cancelled. Additionally, cancelling a Tatkal ticket may not make you eligible for a refund.

Cancellation charges are deducted by Indian Railways based on the time of cancellation:

  • 48 hours to 12 hours before departure: 25% of the base fare plus GST.
  • Less than 12 hours and up to 4 hours before departure: 50% of the base fare plus GST.

Service charges and transaction fees from the original booking are non-refundable

How to Modify a Train Ticket on Paytm?

According to Indian Railways/IRCTC regulations, modification of passenger details (name, gender), train, or travel date is not allowed on a booked ticket.

If you need to make changes to your travel plans, the recommended procedure is to:

  • Cancel the original ticket through Paytm.
  • Book a new ticket with the correct information.

Please note that standard cancellation fees will be applied to your original ticket.
