Synopsis

This satirical comedy is loosely based on Dr. Kashi Nath Singh's popular Hindi novel Kashi Ka Assi. Set in the pilgrimage town of Varanasi, the film takes a jibe at the commercialization of the holy sites. The film stars Sunny Deol in the role of an orthodox Sanskrit teacher. The narrative gives us a glimpse of Varanasi during the post-independence period, covering the events during 1989-1990.
