Why voter id is not linked with aadhar

Linking a Voter ID with Aadhaar is a voluntary process in India, not a mandatory requirement. While the Election Commission of India encourages this linkage to help eliminate duplicate entries and purify electoral rolls, it remains optional to protect citizen privacy and choice. Consequently, your Voter ID is not linked by default; you must proactively provide consent. If you choose not to link them, your name will not be removed from the voter list, and your right to vote remains unaffected. Applications for linking are processed using Form 6B.
