Who is responsible for UPI?

The National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) is responsible for UPI, as it owns and operates the Unified Payments Interface. NPCI also sets the rules, regulations, and guidelines, defining the roles, responsibilities, and liabilities of the Payment Service Providers (PSPs) and Third-Party Application Providers (TPAPs) within the UPI ecosystem.
