UPI

Who invented UPI in India?

The Unified Payments Interface (UPI) was developed by the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI). It is an instant payment system and protocol that facilitates inter-bank peer-to-peer and person-to-merchant transactions in India. NPCI, under the guidance of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), launched UPI in 2016 to modernize and integrate retail payment mechanisms across the country.
