Who built UPI in India?

The Unified Payments Interface (UPI) was developed by the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI). The NPCI was formed to integrate all payment mechanisms in India, under the guidance of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) and the Indian Banks Association. This initiative created a simple, secure, and interoperable real-time payment system introduced on April 11, 2016.
