Which party launched UPI?

The Unified Payments Interface (UPI) was pioneered and developed by the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI). NPCI is the primary body tasked with developing new, simple, secure, and interoperable payment systems in India under the guidance of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI). BHIM, an application based on UPI, was launched by the Hon'ble Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi, on December 30, 2016.
