What is a normal VPA level?

The therapeutic range for Valproic Acid (VPA), or total valproate, in treating epilepsy is generally considered to be 50 to 100 mcg/mL. For the treatment of mania, the therapeutic range is slightly higher, typically 50 to 125 mcg/mL. Levels above 150 mcg/mL may indicate potential toxicity, and levels below 50 mcg/mL might suggest the dosage is too low to be effective.
