What are BHIM and UPI?

Unified Payments Interface (UPI) is a real-time payment system developed by the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) that facilitates instant money transfers between bank accounts via mobile devices. It allows users to manage multiple bank accounts in a single application.

Bharat Interface for Money (BHIM) is a dedicated mobile payment app developed by NPCI that uses the UPI framework to enable simple and quick transactions. While UPI is the underlying technology or network, BHIM is the official government-backed app used to access that network for sending or receiving money.
