Is your UPI ID your phone number?

A UPI ID, or Virtual Payment Address (VPA), is a unique identifier for transactions, often formatted as [unique-username]@[UPI-handle]. The username can sometimes be your mobile phone number, but the full UPI ID includes the handle (e.g., @bankname) and is not solely your phone number. While you can send money via mobile number, the UPI ID is independent of your bank account or other personal details.
