Is UPI accepted in the USA?

UPI acceptance by merchants in the USA is not widespread, as most international processors do not support it. However, Non-Resident Indians (NRIs) with eligible bank accounts (NRE or NRO) can make UPI payments in India using their international mobile numbers, including those from the US. For instance, ICICI Bank offers this service, and platforms like Paytm also enable NRIs with international numbers to log in and make UPI payments via their supported NRE or NRO accounts.
