Is there any risk to give UPI ID?

Sharing your UPI ID is generally safe for receiving money because it acts only as an identifier, similar to an email address for your bank account. The ID alone cannot be used to withdraw funds, as money debits always require you to enter your secret UPI PIN on your device. The risk comes from scammers using the shared ID to send fraudulent requests (like a "Collect Request") and tricking you into approving a payment by entering your PIN.
