How many UPI frauds are there in India?

According to government records, the number of reported UPI fraud cases in India was 84,274 in 2021-22, following 77,299 cases reported in 2020-21. While UPI transactions have surged, banking fraud cases generally increased by nearly 300% in FY 2023-24, reaching 36,075 cases (RBI data). Recognizing different types of UPI scams is essential for prevention.
