How does UPI work offline?

UPI works offline primarily through the USSD-based *99# service and UPI 123PAY. These methods allow users to perform transactions without an internet connection using the following steps:

• Dial \*99\# from your bank-registered mobile number to access a text-based menu.
• Select options to send money, check balance, or view transaction history.
• Enter the recipient's UPI ID, mobile number, or bank details.
• Authorize the payment using your secure UPI PIN.

Offline transactions are generally capped at ₹5,000 per transaction, ensuring accessibility for feature phone users and areas with poor connectivity.
