Why should we be careful in using QR codes?

QR codes require caution because criminals use them for fraud, known as "quishing," by directing users to malicious links or payment pages. Fraudsters often place tampered stickers over legitimate codes, making it hard to know where the link leads before scanning. To stay safe, always verify the source of the code, check the URL before opening it, and be suspicious of codes placed in odd or public locations. Some risks, particularly with UPI scanners, arise from fake or tampered codes.
