What is a 6 digit pin code?

A 6-digit PIN code, or Postal Index Number, is the code system utilized by India Post. This system was introduced on August 15, 1972, to number post offices. The first digit indicates the zone, the second the sub-zone, and the third, combined with the first two, specifies the sorting district. The final three digits identify the individual post office.
