Is UPI payment through credit card chargeable?

No, customers are generally not charged for UPI payments made using a credit card. For merchant transactions exceeding ₹2,000 conducted through Prepaid Payment Instruments (PPIs), such as RuPay credit cards linked to UPI, an interchange fee (typically around 1.1%) is applicable. However, this fee is levied on the merchant, not the customer. All transactions up to ₹2,000 remain free for both parties, and regular UPI payments between bank accounts are also free of charge.
