To issue a cancelled cheque, follow these steps:
- Select a fresh, unused cheque leaf from your chequebook.
- Draw two parallel diagonal lines across the face of the cheque.
- Write the word CANCELLED in capital letters between these two lines.
- Ensure the lines and text do not cover important details like your account number, name, IFSC, or MICR code.
- Do not sign the cheque or fill in any other details like the date or amount.
This renders the cheque void for transactions while allowing it to serve as valid proof of your bank account details for KYC, EMIs, or insurance purposes.
