How to close the bank account online

Most traditional Indian bank accounts require a branch visit for closure. However, many digital-only accounts can be closed online through the bank’s official mobile app or internet banking portal. To initiate the process:

• Log in to your net banking or mobile banking account.
• Navigate to the Service Requests or Account Management section.
• Select the Account Closure option and fill out the required details.
• Ensure your account balance is zero and all pending transactions or dues are cleared before submitting.

Note that some banks may still require you to surrender physical items like chequebooks at a branch.
