The Goods and Services Tax (GST) is an indirect tax imposed on India's supply of goods and services. The Goods and Services Tax (GST) is a multi-stage, a destination-based tax levied on all value additions. On July 1, 2017, GST went into effect, replacing most of the country's indirect taxes. GST divides goods and services into five tax brackets: 0%, 5%, 12%, 18%, and 28%. Some goods, such as petroleum, alcoholic beverages, and electricity, are exempt from GST. Previously, these products were taxed separately by individual state governments under the previous tax regime.
Central Goods and Services Tax (CGST), State Goods and Services Tax (SGST), Union Territory Goods and Services Tax (UTGST), and Integrated Goods and Services Tax (IGST) are the four types of GST (IGST).
Central Goods and Services Tax (CGST): The Central Goods and Services Tax (CGST) merged all of the taxes levied by the central government. For example, previously applicable central excise duty, central surcharges and cess, and other such central indirect taxes.
State Goods and Services Tax (SGST): The State Goods and Services Tax (SGST) incorporates all state government taxes, including state indirect taxes. VAT, sales tax, state cesses and surcharges, and so on.
Integrated Goods and Services Tax (IGST): This tax is imposed on interstate transportation of goods and services.
Union Territory Goods and Services Tax (UTGST): An Act to provide for the imposition and collection of taxes on intra-State supplies of goods or services, or both, by Union territory, as well as things connected with or incidental thereto.

To add GST to the base amount:
Add GST
GST Amount = ( Original Cost * GST% ) / 100
Net Price = Original Cost + GST Amount
In order to remove GST from base amount:
Remove GST
GST Amount = Original Cost – (Original Cost * (100 / (100 + GST% ) ) )
Net Price = Original Cost – GST Amount
