Right from the beginning, Mohan fights all the challenges with humour and honesty. He also lies about his marital status and writes a fake name of his spouse, and that’s how he meets Monal Gajjar, who plays a fearless journalist. There is an interesting twist in the story which makes Mohan and his friend chase Monal’s character for a favour. Darshan Jariwala’s character plays an important role in highlighting Malhar’s honesty and dedication, while Monal’s role adds just the right twists and turns to the film. The two friends, played by Hemin Trivedi and Magan Luhar, set the right example about friendship throughout the film. The commanding screen presence of actor Hitu Kanodia, who plays the visa officer, shows that he was the apt choice for the role. Archan Trivedi, who plays the USA agent, is convincing in a negative role, while Chetan Dahiya has also done a good job. Malhar is likely to win a lot of hearts with his performance, and Monal is good too in a non-glamourous role. The director deserves credit for bringing out newer facets of them as performers. The other good thing is that the story does not digress and while the first half could have been more interesting, the second half certainly makes up for it. The realistic dialogues make the story more relatable, while the songs by Kedar and Bhargav are hummable, especially Sachvine Jajo and Dollariya Raja. All in all, Shubhyatra is a well-directed and entertaining film by Manish Saini which makes for a good watch with the family.Read more
