Maddie’s an Uber driver whose life is fraught with problems. She’s broke and the court has just ordered her assets to be seized including her car. Just when things seem bleak, a Craigslist ad catches her eye - Laird (Matthew Broderick) and Allison Becker (Laura Benanti) are searching for a woman to date their sheepish 19-year-old son, Percy (Andrew Barth Feldman), before he starts college. The catch? Maddie will be rewarded with a brand new Buick Regal in exchange for this unconventional job. Based on a real-life Craigslist ad, ‘No Hard Feelings’ is hands down one of the raunchiest sex romps of the decade. Director and co-writer Gene Stupnitsky along with John Phillips stuff it with an equal number of sexual innuendos, puns and slapstick scenes that leave little to imagination. Too bad, the best of them have already been revealed in the film’s trailers. But they still deliver plenty of amusement when viewed in the context of the charming and comical dynamic between a beautiful woman and an utterly clueless young man who can't tell the difference between a regular iced tea and a Long Island one. While the concept of an older woman dating a much younger man isn't groundbreaking, the reasons behind it in 'No Hard Feelings' add a unique twist. It's worth contemplating how differently this premise would be received if the gender roles were reversed. Would we be laughing or cringing at the idea of a 30-something man being hired to date and seduce a teenage girl? The film boldly challenges societal norms while offering a sexually explicit comedy that exudes the charm and confidence reminiscent of the sex comedies and rom-coms of the nineties. Jennifer Lawrence sheds her inhibitions and goes all out in making Maddie’s desperate attempts seem quite convincing. It's a departure from her usual roles, but Lawrence shines, adding a goofy and endearing edge that keeps the film lighthearted and harmless. Andrew Barth Feldman complements her perfectly with his boyish vulnerability and nerdiness, creating a delightful on-screen chemistry. The film is filled with genuinely funny and coming-of-age jokes, although not all of them hit the mark. Nevertheless, the overall experience is a rip-roaring ride that turns gender roles on their head. So, if you're craving a comedy that tickles your funny bone and fearlessly tiptoes along the line of what's acceptable, then 'No Hard Feelings' is your naughty little pleasure.Read more
