What is FASTag?

Paytm FASTag is a reloadable prepaid tag that will be mounted in the middle of your vehicle's front windshield. It enables you to travel hassle-free through Toll Plaza without stopping & applicable toll charges will automatically get deducted from your Paytm wallet.

The tag is based on RFID technology and is a part of the Government of India initiative.

How FASTag Works?

Paytm FASTag works in a highly user friendly manner, with minimum effort required from your end. Follow the below steps and zip through NHAI Tolls:

Step - 1: Post purchase, fix the tag in the middle of your vehicle's front windshield.

Step - 2: FASTag is linked to your Paytm Wallet from which the applicable toll amount is deducted. Money can be added to Paytm Wallet using UPI or from any bank account.

Step - 3: Enter dedicated FASTag lane at NHAI Toll Plaza. Reader at the plaza will read your tag's detail and applicable Toll charges will automatically get deducted from your Paytm wallet.

Delivery & Activation process?

Activation: FASTag will be activated post validation of the vehicle RC scans, submitted by you.

Post activation: A FASTag sub-wallet will be created and loaded with the applicable threshold amount.

Delivery*: Tag will be dispatched to your registered address at the time of purchase *Delivery of FASTag is only applicable when you have purchased the tag from Paytm/Paytm Mall app or web.

How to Install Paytm FASTag?
  • Remove the adhesive strip and put the tag carefully in the centre of your vehicle's front windshield (from inside just behind the rear view mirror).
  • Make sure that the Customer Service toll free number is visible to the driver.
  • Add money to Paytm wallet to facilitate automatic deduction of applicable toll charges at all NHAI toll plazas.
  • Kindly keep the Instructions set attached in the FASTag Welcome kit handy for quick reference * Don't use cello tape or other adhesives in order to avoid inconvenience in Toll Payments.

Tag Cost: Rs. 100

FASTag Balance: Rs. 250*

*FASTag Balance amount will be pre-loaded to your FASTag Sub-wallet.

How do I Manage FASTag on Paytm app?

Please visit "Manage Tags" section in your FASTag sub-wallet to find the list of tags linked to your wallet

  • The below details will be available against each tag:
  • Tag-wise transaction details of all toll payments.
  • Activation status of each FASTag that is linked to your Wallet.
How do I Recharge FASTag?

Simply add money* to your Paytm Wallet and FASTag wallet will automatically reserve an amount from it (no separate recharge of Paytm FASTag is required).

*It is recommended to add sufficient balance to Paytm wallet 30 mins prior to the journey for a hassle-free toll experience

How do I close my FASTag?

Call us on our Toll free number: 1800-120-4210 and mention your mobile number against which the tag has been registered along with the Vehicle Registration Number (VRN) or Tag ID.

Our Customer Support agent will get in touch with you to confirm the closure of FASTag.

What are the documents needed for FASTag?

You will need to carry original as well as copy of your KYC document

You need to submit the following documents along with the application for FASTag:

  • Registration Certificate (RC) of the vehicle.
  • Passport size photograph of the vehicle owner
  • KYC documents as per the category of the vehicle owner:


  • ID proof and Address proof from the list mentioned, and 1 passport size photograph
  • Driving License PAN Card Passport Voter ID Card Aadhar Card (with address)
  • A valid driving license would be sufficient for Address & ID proof.


  • Public Ltd./ Private Ltd./ Partnership Proprietorship
  • Certificate of Incorporation/ Partnership Deed/Registration certificate of the firm PAN Card of Proprietor
  • PAN Card of the corporate Address Proof of the Proprietor
  • Photo ID of signing authority Shop Act or other Firm Proof
  • List of Directors with addresses/Name and addresses of Partners
  • Our representative will provide you with an application form, which you need to fill and submit.

All required documents for FASTag should be in the name of the owner of the vehicle. If the car owner is not present at the time of application, the driver will need to submit his photo ID proof.

Do I need to use any specific lane at Toll Plaza?

Yes, you will have to use the lanes demarcated for FASTag.

FASTag sub-wallet not created?

The FASTag sub-wallet gets created automatically and you can check it in the passbook section.

Kindly check the sub-wallet in the list of wallets in the passbook section of your Paytm app.

Not able to add money to FASTag sub wallet?

Simply add money* to your Paytm Wallet & FASTag Wallet will automatically reserve an amount from it.

*It is recommended to add sufficient balance to Paytm wallet 30 mins prior to the journey for a hassle-free toll experience

Threshold amount not reflecting in Wallet?

Threshold amount associated with your vehicle type will automatically be added to your FASTag sub-wallet at the time of issuance.

You can check the FASTag sub-wallet in the passbook section of your Paytm app.

How to change VRN/Email?

Please understand that Email id and registered mobile number cannot be changed.

If you want to change your Vehicle Registration Number (VRN), please share your vehicle RC scans with us.

RFID/handheld Scanner not working at Toll?

Please reach out to NHAI on their Toll free number - 1033 for resolving your issue.

If the issue still persists reach out to us on our FASTag Toll free number - 1800-120-4210 and we will assist you in raising the issue with the relevant authority.

Tag status 'Blacklisted'/'Low Balance'/'Suspended

Kindly ensure the following:

  • You have an active tag - you can check it under the "Manage Tags" section in your FASTag sub-wallet.
  • You have a sufficient amount (at least ?150 for Car/Jeep/Van) in your Paytm/FASTag wallet.

Tag not Working/Activated

Please visit "Manage Tags" section in your FASTag sub-wallet:

  • If the tag is in issued state, kindly write to us sharing the RC scans to get it activated.
I am selling my vehicle OR I am not using the vehicle anymore can I Replace/Sell My FASTag

Please understand that FASTag cannot be transferred to the other party. If you are not going to use the registered vehicle anymore, please ensure the FASTag that you used for the vehicle is closed.

If you wish to stop using FASTag, call us on 1800-120-4210 to raise a closure request.

Tag Damaged/Not Working
  • You can replace your damaged tag with a new one at an applicable charge.
  • Scenarios where you can opt for Tag replacement - Broken windshield, Wear & tear of tag, etc.
  • To raise a replacement request, write to us mentioning your mobile number against which the tag has been registered along with the vehicle registration number or tag ID.
Incorrect Amount Charged at the Toll Plaza

Kindly raise your concern by tapping on the 'Need Help' button from the transaction detail page in your passbook and select a suitable issue from the given categories. We will get back to you with a resolution.

I have two cars , can I use one FASTag RFID Tag for both of them?

You will have to purchase two separate Paytm FASTags for both the vehicles.

What is usual minimum distance between two adjacent NHAI Toll Plazas ?

The distance between two adjacent NHAI toll plazas must be 60 km as per government rules.

Paid in Cash but Amount Deducted from Wallet as well

Please share the transaction screenshot and a scanned image of cash payment receipt with us to assist you better.

Return Journey/Monthly Pass Discounted Rate not Applied

Kindly make sure your monthly pass has not expired.

Also, ensure that the plaza where you completed this transaction is the same plaza that issued the monthly pass.

If you still need help, write to us sharing the payment receipt.

How will I get to know the amount of Toll Charges Debited from My Paytm Wallet?

The account holder will get an SMS with all the transaction details on his/her registered mobile number as soon as the transaction is being made.
