Why do I need to do KYC?

Paytm wallet is a RBI governed wallet. As per RBI mandate we need to do KYC of customers to enable a number of features. (Refer to point 9 in RBI Directive)

Why do you need Aadhaar for Paytm wallet if Supreme Court has extended indefinitely linking of Aadhaar for Bank account?

Aadhaar is one of the means of proving your identity for increasing wallet limit. You can also KYC at Paytm using Passport, Voter Id, Driving license or NREGA card

Why don’t you allow KYC with Govt id other than Aadhaar?

We allow KYC with other documents also. You can choose Passport, Driving license, Voter id or NREGA card. Aadhaar is not mandatory.

Why do you ask for only Aadhaar for KYC?

Aadhaar is not the only document using which KYC can be done. However we prefer Aadhaar since you can do KYC yourself using it on Paytm app.

What is Paytm Payments Bank Limited?

Paytm Payments Bank is India’s only mobile-first bank with zero balance - zero digital transaction charge. Paytm offers Paytm wallet and Savings bank account from Paytm Payment bank.

Why does Paytm wallet terms and conditions and SMS mention Paytm Payment bank (PPBL)?

Paytm Wallet is issued by Paytm Payment Bank, hence all legal terms and conditions mention PPBL.

If Paytm wallet is issued by Paytm Payment Bank, am I opening a Bank account by using Paytm wallet?

No Paytm Wallet and Paytm Savings bank account are separate and Independent of each other. For opening Paytm Bank Saving account agent will have to take explicit confirmation from you.

Why are you opening Bank Account while doing KYC?

We don’t open Bank account as part of KYC. To open a bank account Paytm agent will need explicit consent from you.

Can the agent who is doing my KYC also open my Bank account?

No the agent will have to take confirmation from you. You will be sent an SMS which will mention One time code( OTP) for this confirmation.

I think I have accidentally given my confirmation for bank account but I don’t need bank account

You still have 2 days to cancel bank account opening, call 0120-3002699 and press 1.

What are charges for KYC?

There are no charges for KYC. It is completely FREE

There is no fee for KYC. It is absolutely FREE

Why do you collect additional details post verifying my Aadhaar?

RBI requires all wallets to be CERSAI complaint (Refer to point 57 in RBI directive)
Therefore we are required to capture additional details needed which are not available in your Aadhaar data shared by UIDAI

Why KYC itself is a in person process. Why can’t I do it on Paytm app?

KYC requires Address proof of customer. You can do this verification using Aadhaar on Paytm app. However if no mobile is linked to your Aadhaar a Paytm agent will need to do in-person verification of your Aadhaar or any other Govt id to do with KYC.

How to do KYC in 1-minute?

You can complete you KYC on Paytm app in less than 1 min, Just verify your Aadhaar number with OTP from UIDAI and enter few profile details, that’s it! If you don’t have Aadhaar you can request for visit by our agent or visit any of our KYC centres.

Why am I being asked to do In-person verification even after I have completed Self (Aadhaar OTP) KYC?
As per RBI guidelines, Self KYC done using our App earlier is valid only for 1 year. To extend the validity, In-person verification (Full KYC) is required. You can complete your Full KYC by going to your nearest KYC Points or by scheduling a home visit (limited service).
What documents are required for KYC?

Do I Need to submit physical copy of my Documents for KYC?
Paytm KYC process is paperless and nothing in hard copy is needed
Is there any charge for this service?
We don’t charge you for KYC and we never will. Please do not pay anyone for your KYC even if asked for. In such scenario, do alert us immediately
How much time will it take to complete my KYC?
Aadhaar OTP based KYC is instant. For in-person verification at your home or nearby center, Aadhaar based biometric process is instant whereas KYC done through other documents would take 2 days post completion of the process
My Aadhaar registered number and Paytm wallet number are different. Does this block me from doing KYC?
It is not necessary that Paytm registered number and Aadhaar linked number should be the same. All that you need is the accessibility of the number linked with Aadhaar in order to enter the OTP at the time of KYC verification.
I don’t want to give my Aadhaar number. Can I get my KYC done?

Why does Paytm KYC SMS mention Payment bank, I only want a wallet
Paytm KYC process and wallet are under license of Paytm Payment bank (PPBL). Therefore all terms and condtions mention PPBL.

I have two Paytm wallets. Can I KYC both using the same Aadhaar?
We only allow 1 account per customer
Can I only complete KYC for wallet without opening bank account?
Yes absolutely. Post completing KYC for wallet, you have an option whether to open savings account or not
Why does Paytm ask to fill the additional details like mother name, father name at the time of KYC?
Paytm is CERSAI compliant as well and this mandates us to capture these additional details.
I have Rs.500 in my wallet and I am not KYCed. How can I use it?

Can I book a Uber ride, Pay at Swiggy, Dominos etc. if my wallet is not KYCed?

I am unable to add money in my wallet. What should I do?
Non KYC customers need to provide a document ID here: http://m.p-y.tm/minkyc. Post that, they can add upto 10K a month. For 100K limit, click on KYC icon in Paytm app and get started
I am not KYCed. Can I send money to bank account from Paytm wallet?
As per regulations, you cannot send money to other users or bank account without completing your KYC
Can I receive money in Paytm without KYC?

What is the maximum amount that I can send to other Paytm users after KYC?
KYCed users can send upto Rs. 10,000 per month in total to users not registered as beneficiaries. If you register a beneficiary, you can send upto Rs. 1,00,000 per user
What is the maximum amount that I can send to a bank account after KYC?
KYCed users can send up to Rs.25,000 from their wallet to Bank account every month. Limits are refreshed on the 1st of every month.
I have completed my KYC, are there any still restrictions on my wallet
