• What are the different types of Paytm wallets?

      There are two types of wallets as defined by Reserve Bank of India.
      • Minimum KYC Wallet
      • Full KYC Wallet


      Minimum KYC Wallet: Minimum KYC wallet customers have to verify their mobile numbers and email (optional). Minimum KYC wallet customers can add a maximum of Rs 10,000 in a calendar month in their wallet. They can send money to other Paytm customers not exceeding Rs 25,000 in a calendar month. They can also send money from their Paytm wallet to any bank account not exceeding Rs 25,000 in a calendar month. The total amount of of money that can be sent to another Paytm customer & to a bank account can not exceed Rs 25,000 in a calendar month.

      Full KYC wallet: Customers can upgrade their Paytm wallet by providing Reserve Bank of India prescribed KYC documents. Click here to know how to upgrade your Paytm wallet for free.

      Full KYC Wallet customers can hold a maximum amount of Rs 100,000 in their paytm wallets at any point in time. There is no limit to the amount of money that can be added in a Full KYC Paytm Wallet as long as the total amount in the Paytm wallet does not exceed Rs 100,000. This means that Full KYC Wallet customers can spend much more than Minimum KYC Wallet customers and can also receive more cashback without crossing their wallet’s monthly limits. Full KYC Wallet customers can send money to other Paytm customers not exceeding Rs 25,000 in a calendar month. They can also send money from their Paytm wallet to any bank account not exceeding Rs 25,000 in a calendar month. The total amount of of money that can be sent to another Paytm customer & to a bank account can not exceed Rs 25,000 in a calendar month.
    • How can I add money to my Paytm wallet?

      On Paytm.com: You can Add money to your Paytm Wallet in a few simple steps
      • 1. Log into your Paytm account and click on “Paytm Wallet” icon towards the top right of the page
      • 2. Enter the amount you want to add and click on “Add Money”
      • 3. You can choose to add money via Credit/Debit card, Net Banking, IMPS or ATM card
      • 4. You will be redirected to a secure payment page where you need to provide payment details
      • 5. If you have any saved credit or debit card, it will be shown upfront and you only need to enter the CVV number and proceed to the bank page. If you do not have any saved credit or debit card, you can choose to save a card for faster payment next time.
      • 6. Once you enter details on your bank’s page & complete the transaction, you will be redirected to Paytm with money added in your Paytm wallet


      On Paytm App
      • 1. You can add money to your Paytm Wallet by selecting the Add Money tab on homepage.
      • 2. You can choose to add money via Credit/Debit card, Net Banking, IMPS or ATM card.
      • 3. Enter the amount you want to add and tap on “Add Money”.
      • 4. You will be redirected to a secure payment page where you need to provide payment details.
      • 5. If you have any saved credit or debit card, it will be shown upfront and you just need to enter CVV and proceed to bank page. If you do not have any saved card you can choose to save a credit or debit card for faster payment next time.
      • 6. Once you enter details on your bank’s page & complete the transaction, you will be redirected to Paytm with money added in your Paytm wallet.
    • Are there any limitations to add money to Paytm Wallet?

      If you are a Non-KYC customer you can add upto Rs.10000 in a calendar month to your Wallet.

      If you are a KYC customer you can add any amount as long as your wallet balance does not exceed Rs.1,00,000 at any point in time.

    • My money has been debited but it is not reflecting in Wallet, why?

      At Paytm, your money is your’s. If ever an amount is deducted from your bank/card but the payment or transaction is not successful, we will refund the amount to your card/bank the moment we get a confirmation from your bank. Refunds are credited to your bank/card usually in 3 – 4 working days however sometimes your bank can take upto 7 working days. We also share a Reference Number for the refund that can be used to check with your bank on the status of the refund. If the amount is not credited in your account within this time frame, then we request you to please check with your bank. If your bank is unable to share your refund status then please contact us at Care along with your latest bank statement from the date of transaction.
    • Scan Code

      I can see Paytm code at the merchant store, how can I make payment using Paytm code?

      • Open the Paytm App.
      • Tap on Pay or Send icon.
      • Your camera will open to scan the merchant code
      • Scan the merchant code
      • You can mention the reason for sending money. This field is optional.
      • Enter the amount and tap Pay
      • If you have sufficient balance in your Paytm wallet, money will be successfully paid.
      • If you do not have sufficient balance, you will be redirected to the payment details page, where you can add money in your Paytm wallet and then pay.
      • Confirmation SMS will be sent to you and merchant
    • I am unable to scan the Paytm code at the merchant because of dim light, what can I do?

      You can tap on flash button on the top right while you scan the Paytm code.
    • How will I know that the payment is successful?

      You can check the confirmation in 3 ways:
      • 1. SMS from Paytm
      • 2. Post-payment confirmation page in the app
      • 3. Tap on ‘paid’ in Passbook of your Paytm app
    • Where can I check my previous payments?

      Open ‘Passbook’ in your Paytm wallet to check all previous payments with the merchant, amount and order details.
    • I entered wrong amount and paid to merchant, what do I do now?

      If you paid less, make another payment to complete. If you paid more and want a refund, you can request a refund from the merchant or contact us at paytm.com/care. Select Payments/Paytm wallet and the order ID and raise the query. We will get back to you soon with resolution.
    • Send to Mobile number

      How can I send money to someone using Paytm?

      On Paytm.com:

      On Paytm App:

      Sending money with Paytm is really fast and simple

      • Open the Paytm App.
      • Tap on Pay or Send icon.
      • Tap on the Mobile Number option.
      • Enter the mobile number of the person whom you want to send money to. You can also pick the mobile number from contacts saved on your device by tapping the address book icon next to the mobile number field.
      • Enter amount you want to send.
      • You can mention the reason for sending money. This field is optional.
      • Tap on Send.
      • If you have sufficient balance in your Paytm wallet, money will be successfully sent to the person whose mobile number you entered.
      • If you do not have sufficient balance, you will be redirected to the payment details page, where you can add money in your Paytm wallet and then send money.
      • The person whom you have sent money to, will receive an SMS/Email and Push notification (if they have a Paytm app) informing them that they have received money from you.
    • I have sent money to a friend who does not have Paytm Wallet, how will he/she receive money?

      If a person whom you have sent money to does not have a Paytm account, we will send them a link via SMS where they can create a Paytm account. If they does not create a Paytm account within 3 days of your sending them money, we will refund the money back to your Paytm Wallet .
    • Are there any charges to Send money through Paytm?

      No, sending money to another person is totally free and the receiver gets the complete amount you have sent.
    • Are there any limitations to Send money through Paytm?

      You can send upto Rs.25,000 in a calendar month. The total amount of of money that can be sent to another Paytm customer & to a bank account can not exceed Rs 25,000 in a calendar month.
    • Send to Bank

      How can I transfer money from Paytm wallet to bank account?

      On Paytm App:

      To send money to a bank using Paytm you need to follow these steps:

      • Open the Paytm App.
      • Tap the Pay or Send icon.
      • Tap the Send to Bank option.
      • Enter the Name you want to give to this beneficiary.
      • Enter the account number.
      • Enter the IFSC code of the branch. You can get the IFSC code by tapping the Get IFSC and selecting your bank and branch.
      • Enter the amount you want to send. Minimum amount should be Rs xxx
      • You can also enter the reason for sending money, however this is optional.
      • Tap Send.
      • Your money will be successfully transferred to the bank account.
    • What are the charges to send money to bank?

      There is a convenience/processing fee:
      • For Non-KYC customers: 4% of the total amount
      • For KYC customers: 1% of the total amount

      You will be clearly shown these charges before the bank transfer is processed.

    • How much amount can I transfer from my Wallet to Bank?

      You can transfer upto Rs.25000 in a calendar month.

      How do I pay using OTP?

      On Paytm.com:

      On Paytm App:

      To pay using OTP you need to follow these steps:

      • Tell the merchant that you want to Pay with Paytm.
      • Share your mobile number with the merchant.
      • To share OTP from the app:
        • Open the Paytm App.
        • Tap the Pay or Send icon.
        • Tap the Show Code option.
        • Share the 6 digit code shown on the screen.
        • Alternatively, You can also share the OTP received via SMS on your mobile.
      • You and Merchant will receive the confirmation for payment.

      This OTP can be shared even if you don’t have network coverage or Internet connection. You can also share the OTP received through SMS.

    • Merchant sent me OTP but I didn’t receive it, what should I do?

      You can share your in-app OTP in the ‘show code’ option which is always accessible or ask merchant to resend OTP.
    • I shared my in-app OTP and the payment is failed, what can I do here?

      Please make sure that your device time/clock is updated. Please correct the time and start using in-app OTP. If the problem persists, please contact us at paytm.com/care. Select Payments/Paytm wallet and the order ID and raise the query. We will get back to you soon with resolution.
    • I shared OTP in my app to merchant, do I need to worry about my wallet security?

      You do not worry about that. In-app OTP will change every 60 seconds so merchant can not know your OTP to do any frauds.
    • I shared mobile number with merchant and realized that I don’t have sufficient balance to complete the payment, what should I do?

      You can add money in Paytm and then share the OTP to complete the payment.
      • You can add money to your Paytm Wallet by selecting the Add Money tab on homepage
      • Enter the amount you want to add and tap on “Add Money”
      • You can choose to add money via Credit/Debit card, Net Banking, IMPS or ATM card
      • You will be redirected to a secure payment page where you need to provide payment details
    • Merchant requested wrong amount through OTP, what should I do now?

      • Ask merchant to initiate a new transaction with correct amount
      • Pay using OTP for the correct request.

    • Payment through Show Code to merchant

      Merchant is requesting Paytm code, how can I share it?

      On Paytm App:

      To pay using Paytm Code, you need to follow these steps:

      • Ask the merchant for pay with Paytm. Share your mobile number to the merchant.
      • To share OTP from the app:
        • Open the Paytm App.
        • Tap the Pay or Send icon.
        • Tap the Show Code option
        • Show the Paytm Code to merchant
      • You and Merchant will receive the confirmation of payment.

      This Code can be shared even if you don’t have network coverage or Internet connection.

    • I showed Paytm barcode in my app to merchant, is there any chance for fraudulent activity by saving my Paytm barcode?

      No. Your barcode changes every 60 seconds, so merchant or for that matter no one can do fraudulent activity by saving your barcode. Also, it can be used only once to pay from your wallet.
    • Merchant paid wrong amount through scanning my Paytm barcode, what should I do now?

      Ask merchant to refund. If merchant is not able to do, please contact us at Care. Select Payments/Paytm wallet and the order Id and raise the query. We will get back to you soon with resolution.
    • Payment through In-app/push notification

      How do I pay in app through push notification?

      • Please share your mobile number to the merchant.
      • You will receive the push notification with merchant details and amount requested.
      • Tap on the notification which opens your Paytm app and then pay.
      • You and merchant will receive confirmation.
    • I received the push notification and cleared it by mistake, what do I do now?

      The request will be present in your ‘Payment Request’ tab of ‘Pay or Send’ option of your wallet. You can go to the payment request and pay the merchant.
    • Merchant requested wrong amount through push notification, what should I do now?

      • Ask merchant to initiate a new transaction with correct amount
      • Pay In-app for the correct request.

      You just have to sign in to your Paytm account and your Paytm Wallet balance will be shown just below the wallet icon on top right of the page.

      To sign in, click the Log In/Sign Up icon on the top right of the page.
    • On Paytm App

      To see your Paytm Balance, follow these steps:
      • Open the Paytm App
      • On the homepage tap the Passbook icon.
      • If you are logged in you will see the balance on top and if you are not logged in you will be first asked to log in and then shown the balance.
    • I want my Refund to go to the bank and not into Wallet, is it possible?

      On Paytm.com Transactions where you can take the refund amount to your bank are clearly marked in the Your Orders section.
      • Open Paytm.com.
      • Tap on Paytm Wallet on the screen.
      • You will see your transactions under Passbook tab.
      • You will see a transaction titled “Added against order” in case of refund.
      • You will see a Send to Bank button on right side of the transaction.
      • Tap Send to Bank and the amount will be send to the bank from which the payment was made.

      There are no charges for taking the refund amount to your bank from which the payment was made.

      On Paytm App Transactions where you can take the refund amount to your bank are clearly marked in the Your Orders section.
      • Open the Paytm App.
      • Tap on Passbook.
      • You will see a transaction titled “Added against order” in case of refund.
      • Tap on that transaction and you will see an option to Send to Bank.
      • Tap Send to Bank and the amount will be send to the bank from which the payment was made.

      There are no charges for taking the refund amount to your bank from which the payment was made.

    • When will I get my cashback?

      • In case of Recharges, bill payments, tickets, deals or adding money: After a successful transaction, the cash back takes 24hrs to be credited to your Paytm Wallet.
      • In case of a shopping order: Cashback will be credited into your Paytm Wallet within 24 hrs of your item being shipped (for prepaid order only). In case of EMI, Cashback gets credited once the return period gets over. However, if the product has no return policy and you have opted for EMI, the cashback gets credited post 7 days from the delivery of the product.

      Please note that cashback can be delayed because of the monthly limit of Rs.10000 of the Paytm wallet. In such cases, Cashback amount will be added to the wallet automatically on the first day of the next month. Else, you can upgrade the wallet. We would recommend that you get your KYC done, so that you don’t face any issue because of wallet limits.

    • Wallet Upgrade Request Pending

      Once your documents have been collected, it will take upto 3 working days to upgrade your wallet on successful verification. If the wallet is not upgraded within this time frame then we request you to contact us at Care
    • I have linked my wallet to a third party merchant (Uber, Meru, Mega etc). What type of access do they have to my wallet?

      If your wallet is linked to a third party merchant like Uber, the merchant can deduct balance from your wallet for the services provided by them.
    • How can I revoke access of my wallet from third party merchants?

      To revoke access from a particular third party merchant, you can simply do following:
      • Login to your account on Paytm
      • Go to your ‘Profile section’ by selecting from the drop down menu under your name.
      • Under your Profile section there would be a tab stating ‘Merchant Authorized by you’. This tab shows you the list of merchants linked to your wallet.
      • Using the Check and Cross symbols, you can easily update your settings.

      To revoke access from all third party merchants, you can follow any of the below mentioned methods:

      • Change your account password as it automatically delete all linked merchants.
      • You can click on “Sign out from all sessions” tab present under the “Personal Info” tab in profile section of your wallet.
    • What happens if merchant deducts more amount from my wallet?

      You should contact the merchant to refund the amount. The merchant will check the actual value of transaction and refund the extra amount if deducted. If you do not get a resolution within 48 hours, you can lodge a complaint at  Care
    • What happens in case my wallet does not have sufficient balance?

      The transaction will not be successful in case your wallet balance is not sufficient.
    • I seem to be blocked by a merchant for some reason. Is my Paytm wallet also blocked? 

      Your Paytm wallet is always active and ready to use. Please inform the merchant about the problem, and they should resolve it. In case you do not get a satisfactory response from them, let us know here.
    • Is my money safe in the Paytm Wallet I created on my Uber App?

      You money is in Paytm Wallet and not with Uber. It is Paytm’s responsibility to make sure that your money is safe. We are an RBI approved wallet and your money is protected under an Escrow account with a reputed Bank. Rest assured that your money is 100% safe.
    • I have logged in to Paytm after a long time (more than 12 months). I had some balance in Paytm Cash which I cannot see in my Paytm wallet now, how can I recover it?

      No worries! Just follow the steps and write to us
      • Visit Paytm Care
      • Select Payments/Paytm Wallet
      • Select “Regarding – Something else/Others”
      • In the details field please write – Claim old Paytm cash balance for Mobile number.

      • Access your net banking account and add a beneficiary account in the name “Paytm Wallet”

      • Your Paytm wallet must be registered with the same mobile number as provided in the cash deposit slip

      • Paytm would not charge any additional fee from the user
      • You can deposit a minimum amount of Rs. 2000 at bank’s cash counter to load money in your wallet

      • Paytm does not charge any additional fee from the user
      • You can transfer a minimum amount of Rs.2000 and a maximum amount of Rs.10,000 through NEFT to load money in your wallet.
    • How to add money to your Paytm wallet at Bank of Maharashtra ATM?

      • Visit any Bank of Maharashtra ATM near you
      • Select “PAYTM WALLET” from the screen after selecting the language
      • Enter your Paytm registered mobile number and select proceed
      • Enter the amount to be added
      • select OK to confirm the transaction and amount would be added
    • Important information to know while adding money to your wallet at Bank of Maharashtra ATM

      • Your Paytm wallet must be registered with the same mobile number as entered in the ATM
      • If you have a non KYC Wallet, your wallet balance can not exceed Rs. 10,000 in a calendar month & if you have a KYC Wallet, then your wallet balance can not exceed Rs. 1,00,000 at any point.
      • Only Bank of Maharashtra cards can be used for adding money in your Paytm wallet
      • We do not charge any additional fee from you for adding money in your Paytm wallet
    • What is an upgraded wallet?

      With a typical wallet you cannot transact for more than Rs. 10,000/- in a calendar month. Further, your balance at any point of time cannot exceed Rs. 10,000/- This is as per RBI regulations. You can upgrade your wallet for FREE by getting your KYC (Know Your Customer) done. With an upgraded wallet you can store upto Rs. 1 Lakh at any point of time and there is no limit on how much you can spend in a given month.
    • Why should I get my wallet upgraded?

      You can upgrade your wallet for FREE and get rid of the Rs. 10,000 monthly transaction limit. Additionally, you will get the following benefits:
      • Unlimited spending limit
      • Store upto Rs. 1 lakh in your wallet

      • Instant cashback and refunds
      • Reduced fee of 1% on sending money to your Bank Account
    • How do I get my wallet upgraded?

      In order to get your wallet upgraded you need to get your KYC process completed. Which simply means that you need to get your documents of address proof and identity proof verified. You can initiate the Wallet Upgrade process either from Paytm.com or your Paytm app. Paytm.com

      Go to View Profile section under your username on the top right of the screen

      Click on “Request Wallet Upgrade”



      You can upgrade your wallet in any one of the following ways:

    • What are the documents needed to upgrade my wallet?

      In order to upgrade your wallet, we need one of the following documents along with signed copy of KYC form
      • Aadhaar card
      • Passport
      • Voter ID
      • Driving License
      • NREGA job card

      If you choose to send your documents through courier, we would also need a cancelled cheque.

      If you want to spend more than Rs. 50,000/- in a single transaction, submit a copy of your PAN card in addition to above documents

    • How much time will it take to upgrade my wallet?

      Once your documents have been collected, it will take upto 3 working days to upgrade your wallet on successful verification
    • Unable to pay through Specific bank

      Paytm has set a fixed transaction amount to be processed for a single transaction for PSU banks. In such cases, we advise you to keep the transaction amount to be less than INR 5000.
    • Unable to make transaction through Paytm cash

      • Please check your wallet transaction limit as you might have crossed the monthly limit of INR 10000.
      • If not, then we request you to try again after some time.
      • If you are accessing it on Windows App then please upgrade it.
