We have introduced secure Biometric Authentication on the Paytm app, enabling UPI payments to be verified using Face ID or fingerprint, instead of manually entering the UPI PIN. Alongside this, we have also enabled cardless ATM withdrawals, bringing together two meaningful steps toward making everyday mobile payments more secure and reliable.
Biometric Authentication for Everyday Mobile Payments
Biometric Authentication brings seamless and secure verification into everyday use across payments, balance checks, and cardless ATM withdrawals. Using the smartphone’s built-in biometric capabilities, including fingerprint sensors on Android and Face ID on iOS, verification is completed directly on the device, making payments quicker and more intuitive.
Designed with privacy at its core, biometric data is neither stored nor accessed by Paytm or the bank, ensuring privacy and safety. The Paytm UPI PIN continues to be available for those who prefer it, keeping flexibility intact.
In line with NPCI guidelines, biometric UPI payments will initially support payments of up to ₹5,000 per payment.
Cardless ATM Withdrawals via Paytm UPI
We have also enabled secure cardless cash withdrawals at supported ATMs. At supported ATMs, users can scan the QR code displayed on the screen using the Paytm app and verify instantly with Face ID, fingerprint, or UPI PIN to complete the withdrawal.
With the flexibility to choose from multiple linked bank accounts at the time of withdrawal, the experience remains seamless, removing the need to carry a physical card.
In line with UPI guidelines, withdrawals typically support up to ₹10,000 per transaction, with daily limits varying by bank. The feature is available across participating ATMs, with a per-transaction withdrawal limit generally up to ₹10,000, subject to individual bank and UPI limits, while daily limits may vary as per bank policy.
“We continue to build Paytm as a trusted platform for everyday payments. With Face ID and fingerprint, payments are now verified directly on the smartphone, and with cardless ATM withdrawals, there is no need to carry physical cards. This makes payments and cash access simpler, faster and more secure,” said Paytm Spokesperson.
