Forgot Your Paytm UPI PIN? Here’s How Paytm Biometric Authentication Helps

byPaytm Editorial TeamSeptember 9, 2026

Ever been ready to make a Paytm UPI payment and suddenly realised you can’t remember your Paytm UPI PIN?

It happens. But with Paytm biometric authentication, making eligible Paytm UPI payments can now be simpler. Instead of entering your Paytm UPI PIN every time, you can use your phone’s fingerprint or Face ID to verify eligible payments.

Yes, your face or fingerprint can now help you make certain payments on Paytm.

What Is Paytm Biometric Authentication?

Paytm biometric authentication lets you verify eligible Paytm UPI payments using your device’s built-in biometric security.

If you’re using an Android phone, you can authenticate with your fingerprint. On an iPhone, you can use Face ID. This means fewer steps when you’re making eligible Paytm UPI payments and less need to type your Paytm UPI PIN in everyday situations.

Paytm biometric authentication is currently supported for eligible Paytm UPI payments of up to ₹5,000. For Paytm UPI payments above ₹5,000, you’ll still need to enter your Paytm UPI PIN.

So, while you don’t have to reach for your Paytm UPI PIN for every eligible payment, it’s still there when you need it.

How Does It Work?

The experience is pretty straightforward.

Say you’re at a café and want to make a Paytm UPI payment. You scan the QR code, enter the payment details and, for an eligible Paytm UPI payment, you can verify it using your fingerprint or Face ID.

No typing out your Paytm UPI PIN. Just authenticate using your phone’s biometric feature, and you’re done.

It’s a small change, but when you’re making Paytm UPI payments throughout the day, fewer steps can make things a lot smoother.

What If You Need Your Paytm UPI PIN?

Your Paytm UPI PIN hasn’t gone anywhere.

You can still use your Paytm UPI PIN to authenticate Paytm UPI payments. It continues to be an option, including for Paytm UPI payments above ₹5,000 where the Paytm UPI PIN is required.

The idea is simple: you get more flexibility in how you verify eligible Paytm UPI payments, while your Paytm UPI PIN remains available as a fallback.

Can You Withdraw Money Without a Debit Card?

The convenience doesn’t stop at Paytm UPI payments.

At supported ATMs, you can also make a cardless ATM withdrawal using Paytm UPI. Simply select the UPI cash withdrawal option on the ATM, scan the QR code using Paytm and authenticate using your Face ID, fingerprint or Paytm UPI PIN, depending on the available option.

So, even if you’ve stepped out without your debit card, you can still access cash at supported ATMs.

A Simpler Way to Make Mobile Payments

From paying at your favourite café to withdrawing money without carrying a debit card, Paytm is making everyday payments more convenient.

With Paytm biometric authentication, eligible Paytm UPI payments up to ₹5,000 can be verified using your fingerprint or Face ID, while your Paytm UPI PIN continues to work when required.
