We are humbled and grateful for the pride and confidence our shareholders continue to place in us. Our 26th Annual General Meeting was not only a moment to mark a milestone year, our first full year of Profit After Tax profitability, but also an opportunity to hear directly from the shareholders who have been part of our journey. As our Founder and CEO Vijay Shekhar Sharma and President and Group CFO Madhur Deora outlined our progress across payments, financial services and artificial intelligence, one sentiment came through again and again: a genuine pride in what Paytm has become, and confidence in the road ahead.
Pride in seeing Paytm across everyday India
For many shareholders, that pride was rooted in something they see around them every day. Manoj Kumar Gupta thanked the management team for an excellent FY26 result and voiced his support for the resolutions placed before shareholders, before sharing what moves him most about the company he has invested in.
“I feel very proud when a phuchka seller, a muri seller or anyone says Paytm karo. It makes me very happy that you have built such a large company that even the most ordinary person is using its technology,” he said. It is a sentiment that captures what we have always set out to build: technology that reaches businesses and consumers across India, from the smallest street vendors to the largest enterprises.
Today, the Paytm app serves 7.7 crore monthly transacting consumers, while more than 1.5 crore merchants take a subscription from us, including for our payment devices.
A profitable turnaround that shareholders say is proved right
Shareholders who have been with us since our listing spoke about how meaningful the profitable turnaround had been. Jasmeet, an original allottee from our IPO, described turning PAT positive as very satisfying, and took pride in Paytm’s place in his own life, adding that for him and his family, Paytm is a preferred UPI application.
Lokesh Gupta said he had joined the AGM not to ask a question but to appreciate the management, telling Vijay that the faith shareholders had placed in the company was being proved right. “We have trust and faith in you, and that trust is being proved right,” he said, wishing the team well for the road ahead.
Ashok Kumar Jain echoed that spirit, praising the hard work, dedication and honesty with which our Chairman and the wider team had carried the company forward through a demanding period, while Lekha Shah congratulated the Chairman, the Board of Directors and employees for their dedication during the year, adding, “I appreciate the company’s performance and wish the management continued success and growth.”
That pride came as we completed a year of disciplined compounding. During the AGM, Madhur highlighted that our PAT improved by around ₹1,200 crore in FY26, while our cash balance stood at ₹13,529 crore as of the June 2026 quarter. Our consumer payments business grew 46% during the year, more than twice the pace of industry growth, while our merchant business processed 26% more transactions and added 27 lakh subscriptions during the year. It was this steady, profitable progress that shareholders pointed to as they shared their confidence in the journey ahead.
AI adds to the excitement about what comes next
Artificial intelligence emerged as a theme that clearly excited shareholders, with Jasmeet among those singling out our growing AI capabilities and Paytm Intelligence, or Pi, as developments he found especially promising.
At the AGM, Vijay spoke about our ambition to use AI not only to improve efficiency within Paytm, but to create new businesses and revenue streams, explaining that these capabilities are being built natively within the company and are already being tested internally and piloted with enterprise customers. He described AI as a “once in a lifetime opportunity” for the country, and said we intend to extend the success of India’s fintech revolution into its AI revolution.
Gratitude and a shared commitment for the road ahead
Closing the meeting, Vijay thanked shareholders for recognising our financial performance and the work of the team, and reaffirmed the commitment that has defined the past two years. He said we would keep our heads down and continue to execute towards the goal of building a large, profitable, compounding and growing company.
For us, the most meaningful takeaway from the 26th AGM was the pride and confidence our shareholders continue to place in the team and the journey ahead.
