What is Wallet ID in FASTag?

FASTag is a device that allows cashless toll tax payments at toll plazas across the country. The FASTag facility is a cashless model wherein the entire toll tax amount is collected through the FASTag. The idea is to facilitate electronic toll collection across the country, thereby saving people’s time and efforts in the long run. To keep with the digitization, approximately 615 toll plazas in the country have the FASTag facility.

Creating a FASTag Account

When you create a FASTag account, you need to submit the following details-

  • On the home page of the FASTag portal, click on the ‘Retail Login’ option if you are an individual customer; if you are a corporate customer, then click on ‘Corporate Login’
  • Next, click on the ‘First Timer User’ option and enter any two of the following details-
    • Customer ID (It is a 13-digit number, starting with 17xxxxxxxxxxx, mentioned on the welcome emailer)
    • RFID number (It is a 16-digit number, starting with 6xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx, mentioned on the FASTag)
    • Wallet ID (It is a 14-digit number, starting with 17xxxxxxxxxxxx, mentioned on the welcome emailer)
    • Vehicle ID (It is the vehicle number; for example- HR29AAXXXX)
  • After entering the above details, submit your mobile number which you used to apply for your FASTag, and then click on ‘Next Step’
  • Click on ‘Generate OTP’ to verify your mobile number and then, authenticate a password
  • Upon successful verification of your mobile number, you will be prompted to enter a new password for your FASTag account

Note that the password should be set such that it is alphanumeric, has at least one special character, one capital letter, and has a total of 8-20 letters. For example- Abcd@1234

  • Next, you need to select at least three secret questions from the dropdown menu, with an appropriate answer, and click on ‘Continue’
  • The login page will automatically be displayed; where you need to log in to your account using your customer ID and password that you have just created

What is Wallet ID?

As you create your account on FASTag, you need to enter a few important details. One of those details is the Wallet ID.

The Wallet ID is a 14-digit number that is listed in the welcome e-mail that is sent to you at the time of applying for FASTag. The Wallet ID begins with 17xxxxxxxxxxxx. The user must enter this Wallet ID while creating and/or logging in to his/her FASTag account.

Apart from the Wallet ID, the user must know about his/her Customer ID, Vehicle ID, and RFID number. Explained below is all that you need to know about these IDs-

Using Paytm Wallet for FASTag Transactions

Once your FASTag registration is complete, your FASTag account will be created. You can link your FASTag to your Paytm wallet and you will be good to go. To link your FASTag to your Paytm wallet, you will have to provide your wallet ID, vehicle number, RFID number, email address, mobile number.

Additionally, you can use the same FASTag for multiple vehicles, if you own any. Using the Paytm wallet for your FASTag-related transactions will make it easier for you as you won’t have to recharge your FASTag again and again. All you need is a balance in your Paytm wallet and the toll tax amount would directly be deducted from your wallet as and when you cross a toll plaza.

Having a single Paytm wallet for multiple needs will help you manage your balances and keep a detailed track of all your travel-related expenses, whether fuel, purchases at departmental stores, or expenses made at toll plazas.

The right time to get the FASTag for yourself is now. Since 16 February 2021, the Government has made it mandatory for all travelers to get the FASTag fitted in their vehicles.

Without having the FASTag, the user will have to pay double the toll amount. Considering the benefits offered by the government and organizations like Paytm for using FASTag, the electronic toll payment method is eventually becoming a social norm.
