We believe that collective action, even in small ways, can lead to meaningful and lasting change. With this belief at the core, Paytm Foundation, in collaboration with Youth for Seva, recently organized a Cleanathon in Mysore, an initiative focused on promoting cleanliness, environmental responsibility, and active community participation.
On 28th March 2026, volunteers came together at a public park in Mysore, united by a shared purpose to contribute towards creating cleaner and more sustainable public spaces. The day began with an engaging orientation session led by the NGO team, where participants were introduced to the idea behind the Cleanathon and the importance of preserving community spaces. The session also covered essential safety measures, ensuring that everyone was aligned and prepared for the activity ahead.
As the Cleanathon commenced, Paytmers and volunteers stepped into action, dividing themselves into groups, they worked across different sections of the park, collecting plastic waste, wrappers, bottles, and other debris that had accumulated over time. What started as a simple clean-up drive soon evolved into a collective effort driven by ownership, awareness, and a shared commitment to the environment.
Beyond the act of cleaning, the experience created moments of collaboration and connection. Volunteers worked side by side, exchanging conversations and contributing towards a common goal transforming the park into a cleaner, more welcoming space for the community. Each small effort added up, reinforcing the idea that meaningful change often begins with simple actions.
Ensuring responsible closure to the activity, all collected waste was carefully gathered and handed over to the municipal garbage collection team for proper disposal. This step highlighted the importance of not just cleaning, but also following sustainable waste management practices.
By the end of the day, the sense of fulfillment was evident across all participants. The Cleanathon was not just about restoring a public space, it was about building awareness, encouraging civic responsibility, and inspiring individuals to take conscious steps towards environmental sustainability.
Through initiatives like these, we continue to nurture a culture of giving back where every action, no matter how small, contributes to a larger impact. Because creating cleaner, greener communities begins with each one of us, coming together with intent, empathy, and action.
